The Child Welfare League of America will recognize Joseph Crumbley, DSW, for Best Practice in Kinship Care at its 2007 Adoption and Foster Care Training Conference. The annual meeting took place in New Orleans on December 10, 2007. The theme of the meeting was Shared Beliefs, Shared Values: Achieving Excellence in Adoption and Foster Care. Joseph Crumbley, DSW, has specialized in preadoptive and postadoptive therapy, chemical dependency, couples therapy, and physical and sexual abuse. His most recent areas of concentration have been transracial adoptions and kinship care. Dr. Crumbley has provided consultation and training nationally and internationally in the area of kinship care. Nationally, he has consulted with the Los Angeles Kinship Care Program, Philadelphia Society for Services to Children, the Child Welfare Institute, and the Child Welfare League of America. Internationally, Dr. Crumbley has worked with the New Zealand Ministry of Children and Family Services, the Ontario Ministry of Children Services, Ontario, Canada, and Hampshire County Social Services in Hampshire County, England. He is the coauthor of Relatives Raising Children: An Overview of Kinship Care and Transracial Adoption and Foster Care. Dr. Crumbley currently is working on a revision of his last book on kinship care. He has been a recognized speaker at numerous kinship care conferences and has appeared on the Montel Williams Show.
