Archon Antoine M. Garibaldi Receives Honorary Doctorate

Archon Antoine M. Garibaldi, Ph.D., President of Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters degree, from Seton Hall University–during Seton Hall’s commencement ceremony in South Orange, New Jersey on May 7, 2007. According to Monsignor Robert Sheeran, President of Seton Hall University, Archon Garibaldi was chosen for the degree for his “lifelong commitment to Catholic Higher Education.” Archon Garibaldi has also been elected to serve on the Sister The Bowman Black Catholic Education Foundation Board. The Sister Thea Bowman Foundation was established in 1989 in honor of Sister Thea Bowman (1937-1990) to carry on her life mission, which was to provide affordable Catholic higher education to African-American students and adults. Since 1989, the Foundation has helped over seventy-five undergraduates earn degrees from Catholic colleges and universities.
